Apology for the lack of update, a very long hiatus indeed, here in this blog. However, we do keep our Instagram and Facebook pages up to date. Alhamdullillah, now we are back updating all of our activities to keep everyone updated with all the activities we're doing throughout the years, insyallah.

Here, I would love to introduce the new committees for 2019/2020 sessions that will be responsible for the welfare of all the Bruneian students studying in Leeds, United Kingdom.

Awal Tahun Hijrah 2015

Bruleeds celebrated Awal Tahun Hijrah firstly with the reading of 'Do'a Akhir Tahun Hijrah' and Mahgrib jemaah prayer. This was all led by the BruLeeds male religious officer Fadzillah Ihsanudin. Later, a short tazkirah was delivered by one of the BruLeeds members, Faiz Hamid, which was titled, "A Hijrah Within Yourself". The ceremony ended with a potluck dinner and 'Doa Penutup Majlis'.

Ice Breaking 2015

The event was held in our Student Union building on a Saturday evening. We had around 10 freshers attending the event. Our president and vice president, Fatin Maswadi and Affan Zain, opened the event with a presentation containing useful information about upcoming events and contacts. Then, we had an online registration session for the freshers. Followed by a presentation by our religious officers, Zach Ihsanudin and Aqeela Maszidi, explaining the intention behind our weekly Quranic Circle.

It was also full with fun and games that challenge our brains and games that help us to get to know each other. Example, we played 'human bingo' that made people bond over common interests. Other games that were involved are 'T-word sentence' and 'Memory Chain'.

Lastly, our RO closed the ceremony with a du'a and of course refreshments!

Thanks to all the freshers that came!
For whom that hasn't register yet, just follow the link: Bruleeds Registration 2015
Also big thanks to the committee for contributing!

Eidul-Adha 2015

Bruleeds celebrated Eidul-Adha on the 24th September 2015. We started the event by performing Maghreb prayer led by Zach Ihsanuddin, our religious officer and then a short taskirah about the origin of Eidul-adha from him as well. We all shared our knowledge right after, and lastly we ate! Below are some photos:

Thanks to all who contributed!

Eid Mubarak 2015

We, from the Bruleeds society and members would like to wish you a Happy Eid Mubarak! Some of us were lucky to spend raya back home with our respective families but some stayed to celebrate theirs. But that didn't weaken their raya spirit! "Kuih Raya" and "Rendang" were served and happy faces were all around. See pictures below:

Stay safe!

Spring Charity Drive 2015

Salam readers! Alhamdulillah on behalf of the society the Spring Charity Drive has been a HUGE SUCCESS. We have donated some clothings and brought them to Ummah Welfare Trust in Bradford. It is a UK-based international relief and development charity and supports almost 36 countries around the world, including the most recent case, the earthquake in Nepal. It doesn't matter if the clothes are not in such great conditions because they will mend it before the clothes are sold. The money they gain from all these donated clothes will be given to those people most in need, InsyaAllah

By encouraging others to donate all the rewards will accrue to you InsyaAllah. Visit their website to find out more!

Thank you BRU-ROSA for suggesting the drive and our Religious Officers, Fadzillah Ihsanudin and Amira Aqeela Maszidi for organising!

Jazakumullahu Khair to all of you who took time to find items to donate!

“And spend [in charity] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, "My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous." (63:10)

Spring Picnic 2015

This year, our annual Spring Picnic falls on 2nd May. This is when the students studying in Leeds gather, play games, eat, laugh and just plain old catching up. It was held at Roundhay Park just 20 mins away from the university. Even though the weather was not on our side, everyone was still in high spirit.

In March, each individual were assigned as secret angel whose job was to watch over their mortal which is randomly picked (secretly of course) and gifts were not compulsory but encouraged. The point of the game is to get to know each other and strengthen friendship bond with others. Then, that day mortals have to approach their secret angel.

We played 'picture relay' where in our case, a group of six people sat in a straight line and they would pass their drawing from the front of the line in a limited time. Bruleeds' committee also organised a mini race, similar to treasure hunt, with clues and mini games at each checkpoint. Prizes were given out to the winners. Lastly, the event ended with the announcement of male and female best dressed!

Below are some pictures from the event:

A game of Picture Relay.

Team "Kami Lawa" reading through a riddle in one of the checkpoints.

Bubbles are cute.

Team "We Want To Win This As A Good Guy" won as good guys in the mini race.

Best dressed for both gender.

A failed attempt at flying a kite.

A picture from the event.

Lovely Bruleeds girls.

It was  a beautiful day indeed. Here is a video to show how much fun we had:

Thanks to Fatin Embran, Zach Ihsanuddin and Amal Fazillah for the pictures, Aqeela Maszidi and Zahidah Iskandar for the videos.
Big thanks to everyone who came and were involved in the event!
