Spring Charity Drive 2015

Salam readers! Alhamdulillah on behalf of the society the Spring Charity Drive has been a HUGE SUCCESS. We have donated some clothings and brought them to Ummah Welfare Trust in Bradford. It is a UK-based international relief and development charity and supports almost 36 countries around the world, including the most recent case, the earthquake in Nepal. It doesn't matter if the clothes are not in such great conditions because they will mend it before the clothes are sold. The money they gain from all these donated clothes will be given to those people most in need, InsyaAllah

By encouraging others to donate all the rewards will accrue to you InsyaAllah. Visit their website to find out more!

Thank you BRU-ROSA for suggesting the drive and our Religious Officers, Fadzillah Ihsanudin and Amira Aqeela Maszidi for organising!

Jazakumullahu Khair to all of you who took time to find items to donate!

“And spend [in charity] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, "My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous." (63:10)

Spring Picnic 2015

This year, our annual Spring Picnic falls on 2nd May. This is when the students studying in Leeds gather, play games, eat, laugh and just plain old catching up. It was held at Roundhay Park just 20 mins away from the university. Even though the weather was not on our side, everyone was still in high spirit.

In March, each individual were assigned as secret angel whose job was to watch over their mortal which is randomly picked (secretly of course) and gifts were not compulsory but encouraged. The point of the game is to get to know each other and strengthen friendship bond with others. Then, that day mortals have to approach their secret angel.

We played 'picture relay' where in our case, a group of six people sat in a straight line and they would pass their drawing from the front of the line in a limited time. Bruleeds' committee also organised a mini race, similar to treasure hunt, with clues and mini games at each checkpoint. Prizes were given out to the winners. Lastly, the event ended with the announcement of male and female best dressed!

Below are some pictures from the event:

A game of Picture Relay.

Team "Kami Lawa" reading through a riddle in one of the checkpoints.

Bubbles are cute.

Team "We Want To Win This As A Good Guy" won as good guys in the mini race.

Best dressed for both gender.

A failed attempt at flying a kite.

A picture from the event.

Lovely Bruleeds girls.

It was  a beautiful day indeed. Here is a video to show how much fun we had:

Thanks to Fatin Embran, Zach Ihsanuddin and Amal Fazillah for the pictures, Aqeela Maszidi and Zahidah Iskandar for the videos.
Big thanks to everyone who came and were involved in the event!
